Are you an informer or a meformer?

Researchers at Rutgers University report that 80% of Twitter users post updates about themselves while the remaining 20% are informers, tweeting information such as links to news articles. The study further calculates that women post more “me now” tweets than men do (45% for women versus 37% for men). Informers generally have more friends in their social networks, with a median of 131 friends they follow and 112 followers, versus the meformers’ median of 61 friends and 42 followers.

Tweetiator ideally serves the needs of informers because it gives you insight into who is sharing links to your content. At NimbleSource, we’re avid Twitter users and wanted to know when content from our blogs and sites was shared and, while we could watch the sharing on services like bit.ly, topsy, and ow.ly, we couldn’t interact with the sharers to thank them for tweeting and form a relationship with them

It’s our goal to make Tweetiator frictionless for everyone who touches it.

If you’re the content owner, you download a little JavaScript and you can watch and interact with the people sharing links to your content from the Tweetiator dashboard and get alerts via email.

Tweetiator Etiquette

When people share your content, they are usually your biggest fans and Tweetiator gives you a unique channel to engage them. When engaging them you should thank them for tweeting and give them a chance to interact with you. Ask them what they thought of the content, for ideas on other things they’d like to see, where to learn more.
